PARTICIPANTS of the Penang Women Entrepreneurs’ Mentoring Programme (PWEMP) today had jointly launched the Penang’s First Women Entrepreneur pop-up e-mall in conjunction with International Women’s Day which is celebrated on March 8 every year.

The pop-up e-mall consists of eight business categories, including food and beverages, fashion, clothing and accessories, health and beauty and many more. It has a total of 60 stores and is put together by mentees, mentors, and even strategic partners.

State executive councillor Chong Eng, who is in charge of the Social Development and Non-Islamic Religious Affairs portfolio, personally extended her heartfelt appreciation to the participants of the PWEMP for coming up with such an idea to showcase products and services sold by women.

“I sincerely hope that all the exhibitors will take full advantage of the opportunities provided through this platform to market your products and services in a creative and unique way.

“In so doing, you will close sales and expand your business. Remember to make money, ladies,” she said during the virtual launching of the initiative via zoom today.

Chong Eng also said this was a great opportunity to support local entrepreneurs.

“We are still going through a tough time due to the Covid-19 pandemic. With this, I strongly urge all Malaysians to buy local products, which will eventually contribute to further recover our economy,” she added.

Chong Eng then thanked organisations such as WomenBizSENSE, Yayasan Kemajuan Sosial Malaysia, JCI Pearl, NAWEM Penang, Pertubuhan Pembangunan Wanita Tamarai Pulau Pinang and SME Corp for playing key roles in this initiative.

PWEMP was started by the state last year to create a platform for women entrepreneurs to be successful in the business world.

The six months’ programme from October 2020 until March this year is also aimed to give businesswomen the necessary training and mentoring in the area of business.
