“Race and religion have always been here in Malaysia,” he told reporters during his walkabout in Padang Kota this afternoon.
Chow, who is contesting the Padang Kota seat, said Padang Kota has been transformed over the years.
“We have heritage shophouses and buildings in the area which are required to adhere to the George Town Special Area Plan (SAP) and other guidelines when they conserve and preserve their property.
“We are happy to have owners who adhere to these guidelines when they conserve and preserve their heritage buildings,” he said. He also commended George Town World Heritage Incorporated (GTWHI) for safeguarding and protecting George Town’s tangible and intangible cultural heritage.
Chow said he has been serving the people of Padang Kota as the assemblyman for the past three terms, since 2008.
“I was also the Tanjong MP for a few terms.
“I hope to continue serving Padang Kota and leading Penang.
“Pakatan Harapan will continue to engage the rakyat during this election campaign period,” he added.
