PENANGITES have been told to be resilient for any eventuality in view of the current Covid-19 cases recorded in the state.
Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow urged the people not to be complacent in the battle against the pandemic.
He said it was important for everyone to follow the standard operating procedure (SOP) as imposed by the health authorities to curb the rising cases.
“In fact, the state hopes the situation will be controlled well to ensure no new cases are recorded.
“However, the nature of the virus is that it will spread to others if a person is infected with it.
“Hence, high compliance of SOP is needed to contain the situation.
“The state is working closely with the Health Ministry and state Health Department to monitor the situation,” Chow said during a press conference in Komtar today.
Chow was commenting after being asked by a reporter on the current Covid-19 situation in Penang.
At time of writing, Penang has recorded 125 cases after four new cases were detected on the mainland in the last few days.
Since then, the state has embarked on an Immediate Action Plan to counter the Covid-19 threat.
