A TOTAL of 92 students who are pursuing their degree, diploma and certificate in various higher learning institutions had received financial aid from the Penang Hindu Endowment Board (PHEB).
Deputy Chief Minister Prof Dr P. Ramasamy, who is also the PHEB board chairman, said the PHEB has disbursed a total of RM148,183 to support the recipients’ studies as of Oct 21 this year.
“This is our (PHEB) commitment to our students, especially those who are from low-income families. And we have been doing this for the past 15 years without fail.
“The money is paid directly to the concerned universities and colleges but in some cases, we give the money to the students directly.
“I would like to thank the PHEB team for helping to process students’ applications for the financial aid,” Ramasamy said during the cheque presentation ceremony on Oct 21 at Komtar.
Also present were PHEB executive director Datuk M. Ramachandran and Penang Island City Council (MBPP) councillor R. Kaliyappan.
