NOT every day we see ‘superheroes’ visit the market. But when they do, they make heads turn.
Women traders and market-goers at the Pulau Tikus Market had a memorable experience this morning when all-time favorites Spider-Man, Iron Man, Batman and the jovial member of the Autobots, Bumblebee, visited the market and distributed some 300 flowers to mark the International Women’s Day (IWD).
Pulau Tikus assemblyman Chris Lee and his team also took part in the important ‘mission’.
There were also local musicians who lighten up the mood with their performances.
Visitors at the market did not miss the chance to take cool photos with their favourite superheroes.
This unique and creative approach to promote the IWD campaign was initiated by the Pulau Tikus constituency service centre.
Lee said that the IWD is a day for people to show their gratitude and love to the women around them.
“We are in a world where women can achieve as much as men.
“The fight for gender equality is not over. I am proud to see more men calling for equal opportunity to be given to women.
“We must acknowledge that women play a crucial part in developing our nation,” he said.
The International Women’s Day is celebrated globally on March 8 every year and the theme for this year is #EachforEqual.
