PENANGITES are urged to support the NAWEM Penang Charity Drive 2024 at Digital Penang, Wisma Yeap Chor Ee in Weld Quay, George Town, on Aug 10 from 11am to 5pm.
Organised by the National Association of Women Entrepreneurs Malaysia (NAWEM), the fair will feature over 20 stalls that will showcase Penang specialities such as Nyonya goods, second-hand books, clothing, and handicrafts, alongside family-friendly activities like face painting and colouring competitions.
There will also be a variety of food and beverages, including Western, Korean, Japanese, Nyonya, and local cuisine, along with Japanese kombucha, healthy juices, vegetarian options, pastries, cakes, and ice cream.
Lim Siew Khim, the state executive councillor in charge of Social Development, Welfare and non-Islamic Religious Affairs, expressed support for the event as its theme, ‘One Heart at a Time; Your Kindness, Their Hope’ embodies the state’s commitment to helping those in need with kindness and hope.
“The charity drive aims to raise at least RM20,000, with all proceeds equally supporting four organisations that tirelessly aid the less fortunate in our community.
“I am delighted that Penang Women Development Centre (PWDC) and Digital Penang, who generously sponsored the venue, are supporting this noble project,” said Lim at a press conference at Komtar, today.
The four beneficiaries are the Persatuan Pembela Wanita Pulau Pinang, the Penang Shan Children’s Home Association, the Society of the Disabled Persons Penang, and The Children’s Protection Society.
Lim also mentioned that each generous contribution, whether through platinum, silver, or bronze sponsorship, can make a significant impact.
“Together we can make a difference, one heart at a time.
“Thank you NAWEM for driving this initiative and may this event be a resounding success in our mission to spread kindness and hope,” she added.
NAWEM is the leading and established multiracial women entrepreneurs’ association in Malaysia that was established in May 1993.
