YB Zairil Khir Johari , who is the Penang State Executive Councillor for Public Works, Utilities and Flood Mitigation support Penang Transport Master Plan (PTMP) and further more imply that PTMP is a master plan that includes transport planning and development for sustainable effective transport system.
Zairil was interviewed by two students, Jayleen Khor and Yeo Naomi, who are both Psychology Degree Programme students in Segi College, Penang.
Zairil also explained that PTMP is very important for Penang and that the public transport system and road infrastructure in Penang is under develop.
Currently, users of public transport in Penang are less than 5%, and the users of private transport are more than 95%. Hence, through PTMP, he said that the state government aims to increase public transport users to 40% in the future instead.
