THE state’s Entrepreneurial Development, Trade and Industry committee has completed more than half of its Penang2030 target so far, although it has only been five years since the state’s vision was launched.
Penang Entrepreneurial Development, Trade and Industry Committee chairman Datuk Abdul Halim Hussain said his committee has achieved significant progress, meeting 54% of the projects listed under the Penang2030 vision.
“We have about seven more years before 2030 and we have accomplished 54%.
“For these achievements over the past five years, I owe it to all of you. Thank you,” he thanked the industry players, stakeholders and public seevants.
Abdul Halim emphasised the importance of collaboration.
“The 4Ps (Public, Private, People Partnership) are extremely important to ensure equitable and sustainable growth in Penang towards a high-income economy, in line with our Penang2030 vision and Malaysia Madani.
“This committee is responsible for over 90,000 Penang enterprises, ranging from micro-entrepreneurs and startups to large local companies and multinationals.
“And these enterprises contribute more than 600,000 jobs and gross export value of close to RM400 billion.
“We engage over 100 state and federal agencies, chambers of commerce, industry associations and civil society organisations, many of which are here today,” he said in his speech during the Aidilfitri Networking Reception at Cititel Penang today.
Abdul Halim also shared his aim of establishing four working groups for more focused resolution of issues.
They are the Industrial Talent Working Group, Industrial Facilities Working Group, Market Access Working Group, and the Penang Economic Futures Working Group.
“Of course, more working groups will be established in due course, for example, for the halal sector, and for startups,” he said.
