THE 2023 Penang STEM Education Innovation Project Convention Ceremony concluded with a heartfelt appreciation for the participating schools, highlighting the pivotal role of teachers in shaping the students of today.
Held at The Top in Komtar, the event ran from Sept 19 to 21 with the aim of showcasing innovation and creativity among the lower secondary students.
Deputy Chief Minister I Prof Datuk Dr Mohamad Abdul Hamid, who officiated the closing ceremony, expressed his gratitude to all the dedicated teachers.
“Special thanks to the teachers who did an excellent job. Often referred to as mind engineers, the teachers play an important role in imparting knowledge tailored to the learning style of today’s generation,” Mohammad said.
He then underscored the significance of STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) education and its integral role in the current generation’s development.
“There is no doubt that education is the primary platform for producing a skilled workforce to meet the needs of the industry.
“To increase students’ interest in the STEM field, persistent efforts and engagement from various stakeholders, whether public or private, are needed.
“STEM represents a critical component in fulfilling the state government’s objectives in one of the strategic initiatives of the Penang2030 vision.
“We can raise awareness and confidence among students to be directly involved in any STEM-related matter.
“I am very confident that the efforts we are making today will be instrumental in bringing forth a generation that is creative and innovative, enriched with the principles of STEM,” he emphasized.
Following this, Mohamad and state Education Department director Abdul Rashid Abdul Samad presented awards to all participating schools.
