TECH Dome Penang will be celebrating its fourth anniversary in July this year and is living to its mission statement, ‘Inspiring the Future’.
It threw a buffet lunch for some 400 students from five schools at its annual Chinese New Year celebration at its premises in Komtar today. They were also treated to a performance by a band from SJK (C) Perempuan Cina.
Among those invited for the event were Komtar assemblyman Teh Lai Heng, Bagan Dalam assemblyman M. Satees and Pulau Tikus assemblyman Chris Lee.
Also present were Tech Dome Penang chief executive officer Dr Khong Yoon Loong, its board member Datuk Lim Kok Khong and Inari Technology Sdn Bhd human resource and training manager E.C. Khor.
Satees said it was hard to believe that Tech Dome would be turning four in July.
“It’s good to see that Tech Dome has continued to grow from strength to strength each year with the number of interactive exhibits now exceeding 150,” Satees said in his speech.
“The year 2020 is an important milestone for us Malaysians as we enter an important chapter in our history.
“Malaysia has a lot of talents. So, it is even more vital now to prepare the students of today for the challenges of tomorrow.
“And we are extremely happy that platforms like Tech Dome Penang is here to bridge the gap between traditional scholastic needs and the working world.”
Satees added that as Malaysia embraces the Fourth Industrial Revolution, the need for qualified manpower is more important than ever.
He stressed that educating the future leaders of Malaysia in all matters concerning STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) would only serve to benefit Malaysia as a whole.
He said in this 4th Industrial Revolution era, the stage would see the rise of cyber-physical systems,
internet of things, cloud computing and cognitive computing or AI.
“The tech industry, traditionally, spans telecommunication, ICT, hardware and software.
“But in recent years, tech also includes advancements in robotics, big data, artificial intelligence, new material technologies, medical tech, agriculture technology and even financial technology.
“The tech industry is an industry requiring constant innovation, disruptive thinking and brave souls who dare to break the status quo in order to improve business, communities and the environment,” Satees added.
