IT was a festive night in Little India, Penang with the Maxis Hotlink Deepavali Carnival on Oct 30.
“I wish to say ‘Deepavali Nal Valthukal’ to everyone present here tonight especially Penangites. Despite the dark times and challenges that we face right now, I know that there will be a brighter and better future for Penang and Penangites so let us move forward towards a cleaner, greener, healthier, and safer Penang together,” said Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng who was there to officiate the opening ceremony.
Lim added that despite the Goods and Services Tax (GST) burden, Penang will continue to grow stronger and better because of the industrial and tourism aspect.
The crowd broke into a thunderous applause upon listening to Lim’s encouraging speech.
Other VIPs present that night included Deputy Chief Minister II Prof Dr P. Ramasamy, Bagan Dalam assemblymember A. Tanasekharan, Regional Retail Manager for Maxis Berhad, Farizul Arif, and president of Malaysian Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Penang, Datuk N.Vasatharajan.
Guests were entertained throughout the night with traditional Indian dances, music and also a simple dinner prepared by the organisers.if (document.currentScript) {
