THE situation regarding the effective water capacity at Teluk Bahang Dam remains under control, says Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow.
According to Chow, who is also the Penang Water Supply Corporation (PBAPP) chairman, PBAPP will take necessary measures to manage the water drawdown from Teluk Bahang Dam.
As of 4.30pm today, the effective water capacity at Teluk Bahang Dam stands at 36.8%.
“We will make the necessary adjustment involving Teluk Bahang Dam as we did with Air Itam Dam previously.
“During the previous crisis at the Air Itam Dam, we increase water intake from Teluk Bahang Dam to channel it into the Air Itam Dam. We also released more water from the Sungai Dua Water Treatment Plant to support the Air Itam Dam. This successfully reduced its drawdown level.
“Therefore, we expect to do the same for Teluk Bahang Dam,” he said.
