COME Sunday July 29, some 500 cyclists are expected to battle it out at the 2.8km route, located within the premise of Relau Agro-Tourism Centre, in Jalan Paya Terubong.
The challenge is open to individuals (men) of 17 years and above.
Registration is on Saturday, July 28, from 3.00pm to 6.00pm, with the actual race starting on Sunday, July 29 at 9.00am.
Penang Island City Council (MBPP) mayor Datuk Yew Tung Seang said the starting and finishing line is located at the same place within the course.
“Approximately 60 -70% of the entire course is off road, and has an attractive lay out for easy viewing of spectators and media coverage,” he said at a press conference held this afternoon.
The course includes a variety of terrain such as forest tracks, gravel path and include significant amounts of climbing and descending.
Yew commented that the course is built for the coming APMG2018 mountain bike event which will be held on Sunday, Sept 9.
The games offered a total of 14 categories for men and 12 categories for women.
Entry fee for the Penang Mountain Bike Cross Country Challenge is RM25.00 per person.
Cash prize money for the top five winners will be:
1st – RM500.00
2nd – RM400.00
3rd – RM300.00
4th – RM200.00
5th – RM200.00
