The Rise Collection II gets additional motorcycle parking lots

THE residents at The Rise Collection II (Chelliah Park City) a low-medium cost housing project by the state government, have their request for an additional parking space for motorcycles granted.

Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow, who visited the apartment during his ‘Jelajah ❤️ Penang’ programme this evening, said a total of 150 motorcycle parking lots have been added for the convenience of the residents.

“This building has a total of 1,048 units. Therefore, the residents were facing inadequate parking spaces for motorcycles.

“The residents before this had to park their bikes elsewhere, which sometimes tend to obstruct the traffic.

“With the provision of additional parking lots, I believe it will help to ease their parking problems,” said Chow.

The additional motorcycle parking space, which has also been equipped with a roof, cost a total of RM46,000.

It is learned that before this, the apartment only had 500 motorcycle parking lots.

Hence, the Joint Management Body (JMB) sought an additional 150 lots. The proposal was supported by Komtar assemblyman Teh Lai Heng who then contributed a total of RM20,000 to the project.

The balance of RM26,000 was borne by The Rise Collection II’s JMB

Meanwhile, Chow thanked the apartment’s JMB for the care and concern towards the residents.

“This is not an easy task as it (apartment) is a high-density project.

“Should the JMB feel that there is still space for more motorcycle parking lots, they can bring forward their suggestions to YB Teh or even myself,” he added.

Apart from that, Chow also visited the Lebuh Cintra neighbourhood to check on the upgrading works, which include the repainting of People’s Court Flat (Penang Island City Council’s public housing project), enhancing the dump site and providing streetlights at the back lane.

The project was initiated following the survey conducted by the Valuation and Property Services Department together with Penang Women Development Corporation (PWDC).

The survey was done to find out the needs of the residents in the Lebuh Cintra neighbourhood.
