STATE Local Government, Housing, Town and Country Planning Committee chairman Jagdeep Singh Deo today distributed basic necessities to 35 frontliners stationed at the Covid-19 quarantine centre at Rainbow Paradise Beach Resort in Tanjung Bungah.
Jagdeep said the small token of appreciation was a sign of appreciation for the frontliners in conjunction with Father’s Day today.
The basic necessities, which consist of bee hoon, packed sardines and others, cost RM35 per packet. The total sum of RM1,225 was borne by Jagdeep.
“I pray for all fathers to stay safe and healthy during this period of uncertainty revolving our lives and livelihoods.
“Fathers play a very important role because during these unprecedented times, we not only have to fight against the pandemic but also to continue giving the best for our families, especially their safety and health.
“I came here specifically to give recognition for our frontliners, who are also fathers. Please stay safe and healthy,” said Jagdeep during a press conference at the beach resort today.
Separately, the quarantine centre here has officially entered operations day-329 today, designated for those returning to Penang and people under the Persons Under Surveillance (PUS) category.
It was learnt that a total 2,719 people had undergone their quarantine period here. At present, there are 170 still undergoing the process.
Rainbow Paradise Beach Resort general manager Gulab Mahatam Rai said an amount of RM150 would be charged for each admission per night.
Apart from the accommodation, the sum includes breakfast, lunch and dinner but certain vulnerable groups would be exempted from paying.
“The state government will cover the cost for the B40 group, disabled and those that have lost their jobs upon returning to Penang,” said Gulab.
