Two cars await lucky draw winners of Penang Bridge International Marathon
TWO lucky runners of Penang Bridge International Marathon (PBIM) 2019 will drive away with a brand new Honda Jazz and a Perodua Axia worth a total of RM94,000 on Nov 24.
PBIM project manager Grace Teoh said only participants of the Full Marathon, Half Marathon and 10km Run who completed their race within respective qualifying time of seven hours (Full Marathon), three hours and thirty minutes (Half Marathon) and one hour and thirty minutes (10km) would be eligible for the lucky draw.
“We have also decided to extend the entry deadline for another two weeks until Aug 31, which is the final call for all runners who are still hoping to register for PBIM 2019.
“All registration enquiries after the closing date will not be entertained,” added Teoh, who represented state Tourism Development, Arts, Culture & Heritage Committee chairman Yeoh Soon Hin at the press conference held in Komtar on Aug 21.
Teoh said in line with PBIM’s effort to rebrand and to draw in more international runners, the committee has increased the cash prizes for the Full Marathon category this year. The Men Open winner and Women Open winner will receive RM25,000 each.
“Cash prizes totalling RM269,200 will be given away to the top 10 winners of each category.
“To date, we have registered more than 24,500 runners,” she added.
Teoh said the event was part of the initiative to encourage healthy sportsmanship among the public as well as to enhance the quality of life.
