The state government, through PgCare Alliance, today received 150 sets of basic medical items for home quarantine patients from Sin Chew Daily and Guang Ming Daily, and 90 bottles of 100ml concentrated sanitizers and 120 bottles of hand sanitizers from SK Marvel Resources for Li Tek schools and Heng Ee Kindergarten.
State Welfare and Environment Committee chairman Phee Boon Poh thanked the donors for doing their part for the society during this challenging Covid-19 pandemic.
“These basic medical items donated by Sin Chew and Guang Ming are good for the home quarantine patients as they are usually at a loss of what they need when they are infected with the virus for the first time.
“They are confused and we don’t want them to run around searching for these things,” said Phee after receiving the items from the donors at Komtar.
Each set, containing medical items like face masks, soap, goggles, disinfectant and oximeter, is worth RM200.
Pengkalan Kota assemblyman Daniel Gooi, who was also present at the handover ceremony, said the sanitizers would be useful for the pupils of Li Tek and Heng Ee Kindergarten, which are located in his constituency, when they reopen for classes.
Also present were PgCare Alliance members Dr S.B. Ngoo and S.K. Chong, PgCare Alliance food and essential sub-committee chairman Lt Kol Felix Chuah, Sin Chew Daily senior regional manager (Penang, Kedah, Perlis) Puah Ee Peng, Guang Ming Daily deputy general manager (Business promotion/Charity Fund/Admin/HR) Ng Hee Kuang, Guang Ming Daily deputy manager (Admin/Charity Fund) Kenny Fong Khin Lee, Unic Plastech (M) Sdn Bhd executive director Lee Yew Keong, SK Marvel Resources sales manager Kennie Kim and Li Tek board of director Tan Ah Chye.
