RESIDENTS of Medan Angsana flats in Bandar Baru Air Itam were in all smiles after the lifts to their flats were finally upgraded.
For the past 20 years, the residents have been troubled with poor lift maintenance.
In February this year, two lifts – each in Block 2C and 2G – were replaced.
The replacement works had started in October last year.
Paya Terubong assemblyman Yeoh Soon Hin said the total cost was RM445,200.
He said that 80% of the cost was borne by the state government while the remaining 20% was borne by the management (Bandar Baru Ayer Itam Management Sdn Bhd).
“The residents had also raised several issues pertaining to parking lots, facilities and maintenance to me. I will look into it,” Yeoh said today.
He hoped that the proposed Penang Transport Master Plan (PTMP) would help to address traffic congestion in the area.
“I hope the Paya Terubong residents will support the state’s effort,” Yeoh added.
