THE decision on whether to include Umno representatives in the Penang government after state polls are subject to the results.

Penang Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman Chow Kon Yeow said they must first be voted in the upcoming state election.

“If they do not win, then they won’t be selected in the new state executive council members line-up. This is because the state does not have any laws to appoint someone with no seats,” he said.

Chow was commenting after being asked by a journalist on call by Umno’s president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi to include Umno representatives in Penang, Selangor and Negeri Sembilan after state elections.

Chow said the spirit of unity government has been shown in the Federal Government since the last General Election.

“We have been cooperating well at the Federal level, and I believe that our cooperation can be further continued at the state level after the state election,” he said.

On the seat talks with Barisan Nasional (BN), Chow said the final decision would be made by the presidential council.

Meanwhile, Chow also said he would be seeking an audience with the Penang Governor Tun Ahmad Fuzi Abdul Razak on June 27 for consent to dissolve the State Legislative Assembly on June 28.
