BRILLIANT art pieces by young artists from ATEC Academy are currently being displayed at the exhibitions called ‘Our Beloved Prime Minister Collage Art’ & ‘Heritage Through the Eyes of Young Artists’ at Performing Arts Centre ( Penangpac).
Both the exhibitions are held in conjunction with the Penang Arts Week 2019 which was recently launched by the state government to promote the appreciation of arts in the state.
Using things such as pebbles, grains and beans, paper, screw and nuts, nails, eggshells, ropes, buttons, beads, shells, thread, and some other recyclable items the students have come up with stunning portraits (collage) of our Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
State Tourism Development, Arts, Culture and Heritage Committee chairman Yeoh Soon Hin said Penang Arts Week is a good stage for locals to showcase their talents as well as unleash their potentials.
“The objective of the Penang Arts Week is to provide a common platform for our people
to come forward and show their talents with regard to arts.
“This will also enhance the growth of arts in the state as well as propelling Penang in becoming an art hub of the region,” Yeoh said during the launching ceremony of the exhibition at Penangpac on March 26.
Yeoh stated that the art pieces displayed in the ‘Heritage Through the Eyes of Young’ exhibition reflect the younger generations perspective on the cultural heritage of Penang.
“I personally congratulated each and everyone of them while listening to their explanation on the artwork as a manner of appreciating their effort and also to encourage them,” added Yeoh.
The exhibition will be held until March 31 at the Penangpac (10am – 6.30pm) and admission is free. So come and ‘perceive’ the beauty of arts yourself !
Throughout the week, many other programmes are also held in various locations in Penang.
