NOT every face mask advertised or bought may necessarily have the required protection to keep the Covid-19 virus at bay.
Hence, everyone needs to be properly educated when it comes to choosing the ‘right mask’ to protect themselves from Covid.
Firstmed (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, a local company, is doing just fine in the market by manufacturing face masks of top quality for the well-being of the people.
Its director Sim Lin Shuen said the main reason his company was set up is to supply top quality face masks for the people as there are some, who still resort to using any kind of face mask without the right protection.
“Our face masks are made up of melt blown fabric with bacterial filtration efficiency of 99%.
“It is important for everyone to wear face mask with the right purpose,” Sim said during an exclusive interview with Buletin Mutiara today.
Firstmed, based in Bukit Mertajam, was founded in August 2020 and it currently has 60 staff.
Sim, however, said that while for now the company is focused on supplying their items to factories on the mainland, the next move is to look into the production of hand sanitisers and widening their reach to the general public as well.
“We are also working closely with hotels and other tourism players in the state as they prepare to enter Phase 3 of the National Recovery Plan (NRP),” he said.
Sim also added that the company fully encourages individuals and organisations in need of face masks to write in an official request, which will then be considered by the management for distribution.
It was learnt that the company had previously donated 200 boxes of face masks to the Penang government.
