TO mark the annual World No-Tobacco Day this year, the Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) Green Lung Society will organise a 5km Green Lung Zombie Survival Run on June 1.
In an interview with Buletin Mutiara, Green Lung Society vice-project director Rachel Yoong said the fun run would take place at the university’s Padang Kawad from 4.30pm to 8pm.
“We hope to raise public awareness of the dangers associated with tobacco while advocating for a healthier lifestyle within the community.
“In addition to the fun run, a variety of activities will be held. The highlight will be the 5km zombie run, designed to captivate the interest of participants.
“Furthermore, there will be health screenings aimed at promoting awareness of healthy living among attendees,” said Yoong, a 23-year-old pharmacy student in her second year.
Various programmes, including a food carnival, educational talks, stage performances, and lucky draws, will be held.
Yoong expressed her aspirations for a smoke-free environment.
“We hope to educate more people to know the importance of having such surroundings,” she said.
The registration fee for the run is RM40 for each participant and RM70 for two participants. Each runner is entitled to a T-shirt, a goodie bag, and an e-certificate.
Interested participants can register themselves at (https://forms.gle/ZCYtBT8kY7e5zUQB9). The closing date is April 30.
