THE Urban Transformation Centre (UTC) in Penang has benefitted some 7.9 million visitors as of December last year, says Finance Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz.
He said the number of visitors recorded was from August, 2020, to December, last year (2021).
“The UTC in Penang has provided various services to the public.
“For the whole of last year (2021), an average of 16,000 visitors per month was recorded at UTC in Penang,” he told reporters during his visit to UTC Penang in Komtar today.
Zafrul added that UTC Penang transacted about RM1.5 billion from August, 2020, to December, last year.
Also present was Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow.
Zafrul said there were 23 UTCs in the country. Five UTCs are in the northern states.
Separately, he mentioned that the country’s economy (measured by its gross domestic product) grew by 3.1% in 2021.
“It is in line with our projection,” he said, adding that he was quite optimistic about Malaysia’s economy, with the growing confidence of investors.
