FOR the past 12 years, the V-Malaysia Convention (V-Con) has been an important event on Penang’s calendar, says state Tourism and Creative Economy Committee chairman Wong Hon Wai.
Wong said the state government and the Penang Convention & Exhibition Bureau (PCEB) will continue to support V-Con.
“This event has grown in both size and significance, reflecting the expanding community of resilient and passionate entrepreneurs who come together to share, learn, and inspire.
“Since 2023, we have been proud that V-Con has grown so significantly that it is now held twice a year in Penang.
“The first edition of V-Con this year took place in May at the SETIA Spice Convention Centre, and we are now looking forward to the second edition this month,” Wong said during his speech at the ‘Media Interaction & Business Networking Session’ at Amari Hotel today.
V-Con is supported by Tourism Malaysia, in collaboration with V Global Management and QNET Malaysia to Wong, some 9,000 delegates from more than 30 countries will participate in the event, themed ‘Unstoppable,’ from Sept 12 to 16 at Setia SPICE Convention Centre.
“I received feedback from hoteliers that the occupancy rate for this weekend in Penang is almost full.
“It’s also important to note that 10 new hotels are in the pipeline, as we need more rooms to accommodate participants of large international conferences like V-Malaysia,” said Wong, who is also the Paya Terubong assemblyman.
Meanwhile, QNET chief of regional operations, Pushpalatha Balan, shared that the convention will showcase QNET’s watch and jewellery brand ‘Bernhard H.Mayer’s Serendipity Collection, among others.
“V-Con is not just a convention; it is a platform for driving business excellence and sustainability.
“Our theme, ‘Unstoppable,’ reflects our commitment to inspiring positive change and fostering resilient, innovative entrepreneurs.
“By introducing new sustainable products, we aim to meet customer needs while promoting a greener future,” she added.
Meanwhile, V Global Management chief executive officer, B. Naresh said that Penang is an ideal place to host the convention.
