Virtual Career Fair 2021 a success

THE four-day Virtual Career Fair 2021, which came to an end today, was an exciting collaboration between the public and private industry players in creating a win-win solution amidst the Covid-19 pandemic, says Penang Youth and Sports Committee chairman Soon Lip Chee.

Under the ‘We Want You’ platform, he said many jobseekers joined the event, which featured over 80 employers and more than 7,000 available vacancies.

“Thank you to all the employers and job seekers for joining this event and making it a success.

“I would like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to the Penang Youth Development Corporation (PYDC), Perkeso and Big Domain for organising this Virtual Career Fair 2021.

“This event can mark a new chapter for our Penang Youth portfolio. May our efforts in building our youth for the future be fruitful,” he said in his virtual closing address.

The Virtual Career Fair 2021 was held from Aug 26 to Aug 29.

Soon called on those who missed out the Virtual Career Fair 2021 to join the ‘We Want You’ platform, which provides a diversified job opportunities in terms of a full-time position, industrial training and freelancing.

“Together, we shall work better in developing Penang youth holistically,” he added.

Soon also advised the youth to equip themselves with essential career skills, such as resilience, teamwork, communication skills, creativity and problem solving.

“It is important to continuously develop your industry-specific hard skills and soft skills as well.

“These are the key skills that our youth need to have in order to secure an employment in this competitive world, especially in the current challenging times,” he added.

Among those who were present in the virtual closing ceremony were PYDC general manager Dr Gwee Sai Ling and Big Domain chief executive officer Henry Tye.
