ARE you fond of vintage bikes? Then, come and be part of ‘MBG Vespa Lambretta Jamboree 2022’, a vintage bike festival specially organised by MotoBuruk Garage (MBG).
It is set to take place at the Esplanade on Oct 29 and 30.
The event is also supported by Tourism Malaysia, Ministry of Tourism and Culture Penang (MOTAC), Neo+ Hotel, PakMat Western, Vespa Penang and the office of state Local Government, Housing, Town and Planning Committee chairman Jagdeep Singh Deo.
During a press conference at the Neo+ Hotel today, Jagdeep said the ‘MBG Vespa Lambretta Jamboree 2022’ is a one-of-its-kind event to be held in Penang.
“Thank you to the MBG for choosing Penang as its venue and I know its not easy to organise a big event such as this.
“We will do our part in ensuring that the event will be organised in a good manner as well as give priority to the safety aspect.
“This (‘MBG Vespa Lambretta Jamboree 2022’) might also collide with the programmes related to election campaigns, but we hope people will come and support it.
“My best wishes to the team,” Jagdeep added.
Also present were organising chairman Aidzam Alias, Hotel Neo+ general manager Datuk Gulab Mahadtam Rai, Motac Penang head of unit Mohd Amir Azhar and Tourism Malaysia tourism officer Mohd Yusoff Hashim and Pak Mat Western Sdn Bhd chief marketing officer Aqmal Merican.
According to Aqmal, the ‘MBG Vespa Lambretta Jamboree 2022’ will also include sales of spare parts, local products, food and beverages, vintage items and used bikes.
“This time, we have sent our invitations to all the bike clubs in Malaysia as well as Thailand, Indonesia, Singapura, Brunei and Vietnam.
Among the biking groups that will be participating in the festival are Sampala Mg, Bandusa, Harley Owner Group (Penang Chapter), Pemuda Bahaya Mg, Marshall Racer Mg and Northern Demon MC.
“Some 500 vintage bikes will be joining the MBG Vespa Lambretta Jamboree 2022. And we are expecting some 5,000 visitors to the event,” Aqmal said.
Apart from that, the two-day event will also feature motorcycle competitions in various categories, a lucky draw, concerts, a vintage wear competition, and a 60’s themed dancing competition among others.
The grand prize for the lucky draw is a classic Vespa.
