DEPUTY Chief Minister II Jagdeep Singh Deo cautioned against politicising the upcoming scheduled water disruptions from Jan 10 to 14.
He emphasised the state government’s dedicated efforts to collaborate with all parties, ensuring the public’s water needs are met.
Addressing the press at Taman Free School, Jagdeep reassured Penangites of the state’s readiness for the impending disruptions.
He highlighted the proactive measures taken by the Penang Water Supply Corporation (PBAPP), city councils, and volunteer groups, expressing confidence in overcoming the crisis.
“Penang is steadfast in its commitment to supporting the public during the impending water disruptions, thanks to well-orchestrated mitigation plans and preparations collaboratively devised by the Penang Water Supply Corporation (PBAPP), city councils, and dedicated volunteer groups,” Jagdeep said today.
In addition to these efforts, Jagdeep mentioned that local constituencies are actively devising plans to minimise the impact on residents, businesses, and amenities within their areas.
Concurrently, the Penang Island City Council (MBPP) plans to deploy 18 water tankers to 75 affected locations, including food complexes and markets.
MBPP mayor Datuk A. Rajendran affirmed the commitment to provide continuous water supplies through these tankers, catering to both consumable and general usage needs.
He stressed the importance, particularly for markets requiring water for cleaning and sanitation.
Rajendran emphasised continuous monitoring of affected areas during the disruptions.
Meanwhile, at Taman Free School, Jagdeep, along with members from the Datuk Keramat service centre, distributed 2024 calendars to residents in the area.
