RESIDENTS in Air Itam, Farlim, and Paya Terubong are set to experience an 18-hour water supply disruption, beginning tomorrow, Feb 21, at 9pm, and lasting until 3pm on Saturday, Feb 22.
The interruption was officially announced by the Penang Water Supply Corporation (PBAPP) through a statement shared on their social media platforms.
The temporary water shutdown is necessary for the completion of a 600mm pipeline diversion project, which is part of the Tun Dr. Lim Chong Eu Expressway–Air Itam Bypass Road development.
As part of the work, PBAPP will be closing five valves across five pump houses.
In response to the disruption, state executive councillor and Paya Terubong assemblyman Wong Hon Wai assured that PBAPP, the Penang Island City Council (MBPP), and other relevant authorities are on standby and ready to assist residents if needed.

“We advise all residents, particularly those in landed properties, to store enough water ahead of time to minimise the impact of this scheduled interruption.
“High-rise buildings typically have water tanks, which should be sufficient for the short duration of this disruption,” Wong said when contacted for comments today.
Echoing this sentiment, Air Itam assemblyman Joseph Ng Soon Siang also urged residents to prepare in advance by stocking up on water to get through the temporary outage.

Both officials emphasised that the disruption is expected to last less than 24 hours, and residents should take necessary precautions to ensure a smooth period without supply issues.
