THE Penang government, through the Penang Youth Development Corporation (PYDC), will organise the second edition of the ‘We Care You Education Fair’ this year.
It will be held on March 25 and 26 at Butterworth Arena.
State Youth and Sports Committee chairman Soon Lip Chee, who is also the PYDC chairman, said they welcome those looking for a one-stop education fair with a myriad of options.
“It is a special platform to provide students with the chance to not only pursue their interests, but also apply for scholarships provided by various education institutions during the two-day event.
“The education fair is open to all students from Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) level, Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran Malaysia (STPM), United Exam Certificate (UEC), International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE), A-Level and matriculation students as well.
“Hopefully, we can give proper exposure to the students through this education fair, so that they will know which courses and institutions are the best for them when they decide to further their studies.
“We also expect more than 1,000 visitors, including students and their parents, and we welcome everyone’s presence and support,” Soon told a press conference at Butterworth Arena today.
Also present were PYDC general manager Dr Gwee Sai Ling and PYDC deputy general manager Ng Hooi Ting.
Meanwhile, Dr Gwee said PYDC is expecting at least 50 higher learning institutions (public and private) to participate in the education fair.
“We also provide an affordable price for exhibition slots for any interested parties, with half of the cost borne by us as the organiser.
“There are still some empty slots and any interested exhibitors can register themselves by going through the link http://shorturl.at/dAFHY .
“The last date to register is March 7 at 5pm,” she said.
According to Gwee, various interesting activities will be carried out during the two-day education fair.
“They include educational quizzes, educational talks, lucky draws and exhibitions by youth entrepreneurs under the PYDC platform.
“Through the activities offered, the youth and the visitors will gain various benefits as well,” Gwee said.
She also announced that free bus services are also provided by PYDC for schools around the Butterworth area to attend the education fair.
