THE five-day World Research Travel Conference (WRTC) 2024, held for the first time in Penang, concluded successfully with a gala dinner for 600-odd attendees at the Setia SPICE Convention Centre tonight.
Tan Sri Dr Ng Yen Yen, honorary president of the World Research Travel Organisation (WRTO), encouraged attendees to embrace the role of responsible travellers by contributing to the protection and preservation of heritage, culture, and the environment.
“You have learned a great deal and shared many insights. When you return, put what you’ve learned into practice by utilising technology and artificial intelligence,” Dr Ng stated in her brief address.
Organising chairman Datuk Seri Abdul Khani Daud extended his gratitude to all participants and sponsors, acknowledging their efforts in making the event a success.
A highlight of the event was the signing of two Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) between WRTO and UNITECH Travel Innovation, as well as between WRTO and China National Geographic Magazine Co. Ltd, aiming to further international collaboration in tourism and technology.
Singapore has been announced as the host for WRTC 2025.
Prominent attendees included Datuk Rashidi Hasbullah, deputy president of the World Research Malaysian Chapter; Mint Leong, secretary-general of WRTO Malaysia; and Liang Wern Ling, secretary-general of WRTO Singapore and founder of Le Yeah Consultancy & Le Yeah Learning.
