LEADING global provider of computing power infrastructure and services, xFusion International Pte Ltd (xFusion) has chosen Penang to house its maiden global supply centre.
The state-of-the-art global supply centre was established through a collaboration between xFusion and a Penang-based company NationGate Holdings Berhad as a strategic partner.
Located in the Perai Industrial Zone, the 254,491sq ft global supply centre is situated inside the NationGate building.
xFusion chairman and chief executive officer Jeffrey Liu said the opening of the global supply centre in Penang is an important milestone in the company’s overseas growth strategy.
“The state-of-the-art centre will strengthen our worldwide supply network to ensure continuous, consistent delivery of products and services in its key markets.
“Penang, which is also known as the Silicon Valley of the East, is an ideal location for xFusion to set up the global supply centre due to the local availability of highly skilled workforce, the mature local supply chain as well as the close proximity to our business partner NationGate.
“With the increasing importance of digital infrastructure cutting across multiple sectors, we are excited for our new chapter here in Penang, which is well-positioned to further support the growth of the industry,” Liu said in his speech before Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow launched the global supply centre today.
Also present were state Local Government, Town and Country Planning Committee chairman Jason H’ng Mooi Lye, the Chief Minister’s special investment adviser Datuk Seri Lee Kah Choon, Chinese consul-general in Penang Zhou Youbin, InvestPenang chief executive officer Datuk Loo Lee Lian and NationGate managing director Ooi Eng Leong.
Liu added that the state-of-the-art centre is poised to have an expected production capacity of over 150,000 units of servers annually.
“NationGate will also manufacture GPU servers for the global market. A GPU server is a high-powered server designed for data centres and applies to artificial intelligence, high-performance computing, database and video analysis scenarios,” he said.
Commenting on the partnership between xFusion and NationGate, Ooi said the company’s appointment as xFusion’s strategic partner is a testament to its growing capability and competency as an established EMS (electronics manufacturing services) provider.
“With 12 years of operating history in Penang, NationGate provides EMS manufacturing services and technical support to its customers, many of whom are multinational companies from high growth industries such as networking and telecommunications, industrial instruments, data computing, consumer electronics, automotive and semiconductor.
“And this collaboration will further support NationGate’s journey to improve its expertise along the value chain, to solidify its position as a renowned one-stop EMS provider,” he said.
Meanwhile, Chow also congratulated xFusion and NationGate for turning this great plan into a reality.
“It is indeed heartening to witness such collaborative efforts come to fruition. This speaks volumes of Penang’s conducive environment which is capable of nurturing the growth of our homegrown companies, hence accelerating their integration into the global supply chain.
“Thus, I am hopeful for this new global supply centre to strengthen xFusion’s worldwide supply network while ensuring continuous and consistent delivery of products and services globally.
“Penang is committed to further bolstering the industrial clusters, while promoting the growth of emerging sectors. On this note, we are pleased to be the choice location for xFusion.
“I am confident that this collaboration between xFusion and NationGate will translate into immense potential which will only strengthen Penang’s digital infrastructure and connectivity,” he said.
