IN collaboration with Penang Island City Council (MBPP) and Perfect Life Yoga Asia Academy; Malaysia Hindudharma Mamandram Penang has successfully hosted its Penang International Yoga Day 2024 at the outdoor auditorium of Penang City Park.
State Youth, Sports, and Health Committee chairman Daniel Gooi Zi Sen commended the organisers for their dedication to promoting yoga as more than just a physical activity but a lifestyle that fosters community values.
“With the support of Malaysia Hindudharma Mamandram Penang Branch Youth Bureau, this event has transcended its commemorative origins to become a cherished tradition that unites our community in the pursuit of holistic health,” remarked Gooi during the opening ceremony on June 22.
Also present to show support was Penang Island City Council (MBPP) mayor Datuk A. Rajendran.
The event, funded with RM11,000 by the Penang government and MBPP, attracted a diverse group of 400 participants, who gathered from 5.30am to 9am to participate in various yoga activities.
Each participant received a certificate, a commemorative T-shirt, and snacks, contributing RM10 towards registration fees.
Malaysia Hindudharma Mamandram Penang Branch chairman Thanabalan Nanda Kumar expressed gratitude to the Penang government and MBPP for their support in making the event a resounding success.
“The decision to hold the event on a Saturday ensured broad participation, aligning with our goal to promote wellness and community spirit,” he said.
The ceremony concluded with performances showcasing different forms of yoga, enriching the morning with cultural vibrancy and spiritual harmony.
