A TEAM of visionary and young Penangites from Bukit Mertajam has embarked on an extraordinary journey by introducing sustainable Black Soldier Fly (BSF) larvae farming.
State Youth, Sports and Health Committee chairman Daniel Gooi praised the achievements of the young Penangites.

“They have introduced the BSF farm, marking a first for Penang. The larvae of BSF can consume organic waste at impressive rates and the by-products are rich in fertilisers and nutrient-dense feed.
“It offers sustainable solutions for agriculture and livestock.
“The Miraico’s Project Future aims to harness the potential of BSF through automation, artificial intelligence (AI), and data analytics. This initiative will promote sustainability and create awareness among the youth.

“It helps to tackle food waste by converting it into sustainable feed, and organic fertilisers, and promoting the circular economy.”
Gooi expressed confidence that this project will inspire more youth to engage in sustainable technologies, environmental projects, and green agriculture. He made this remark during his speech before witnessing the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing ceremony between JCI Bukit Mertajam and Miraico Sdn Bhd at Penang Harmony Centre today.

Gooi lauded the initiative, saying that it aligns with Penang2030 vision.
“Clearly, Miraico’s efforts are part of our aim to achieve this vision,” he said, praising the company for its contributions.
JCI Bukit Mertajam president Tan Xiao Wen said this project shows strong collaboration across relevant sectors.

“This project symbolises our commitment to fostering an environment whereby technology and sustainability go hand-in-hand,” she said.
